2. The Color Series: The White Piece

The White Piece
Ackja International Festival, curated by Angel Pastor, Krakow, Poland, 2009. Length: 1 hour.

I am wearing all white. There’s a table with 12 white plates with white food in them. At the bottom of the plates there are mirrors.
I start eating, at first by myself and then I feed the people in the audience until all the food is gone. I clean the plates so that the mirrors at the bottom are clearly visible. I walk to the corner of the room and start singing a children’s song: “Mambrú se fue a la guerra” (“Mambrú, went off to war”). I try to sing it in different languages. Then I walk to the other corner and fill the sleeve of my dress with pastry cream. I write the phrase “So, tell me, How does it feel?” in the plate mirrors with it. Then I step on 3 dozens of glasses of milk, spilling the white liquid all over the space. I try to clean it but my efforts are in vain. I’ve scared away the people I fed earlier. I take off my dress to reveal another black one.
