1. Serie La Espera: The Wait or the Act of Measuring

The Wait or, the Act of Measuring
International Performance Festival “Ensemble of Women” organized by PerfoPuerto. Santiago de Chile, 2007. Length: 5 hours.

All the elements in these piece where instruments used to measure something in some way: a scale, an alarm clock, personality tests, diet products and self-help videos.
The action was divided in half-hour blocks. Each of these blocks was separated from the other with the sound of the alarm from the clock.
Each block consisted of: Doing personality tests until I found out the results, reading it out loud, rolling up the paper where the test was printed and hide it in my hair. When the alarm went off, I stood up and walked to the left in order to eat and exact portion of food that I had previously weighed. Then, I would go back to my seat to program another alarm clock. On the other side of the table there was a video in which hands would open and empty packets of artificial low calorie sweeteners into a cup while the audio played a recording of a self-help conference. The empty sweetener packets where used to make the dress I was wearing, which was completely covered in them.
