1. Serie La Espera: The Wait or Prince Charming

The Wait or, Prince Charming
“Zona Fronteriza” Performance Festival organized by LOT, Lima, 2005. Length: 5 hours.

This performance took place in the shop window of an abandoned textile factory. The space had a direct influence in the planning of my action. I thought about notions of exhibiting, repetition, supply and demand and love as a narrative.
In the window a set up a make-shift bedroom comprised of old furniture, seemingly on display. There were also 7 TV sets that showed the same video playing on a continual loop. This video was the result of 40 interviews with women of different ages about their idea of Prince Charming. I edited their testimonies so that their isolated phrases ended up constructing a rather confusing discourse.
In this space I placed transparent acrylic coffin in which I lay down to sleep for 5 hours. In this way, not only did I displayed myself as a product, but I also placed this passive gesture in the framework of the discourse from the women in the video, which was audible outside. Finally, I also included a large mirror in the installation that let the audience become a part of the display.
